Moore & Sons completes a large commercial warehouse concrete foundation construction in Surrey

We’ve just poured a 7 trucks total of concrete (approx. 66 cubic meters) to fill this forming work we’ve spent several weeks constructing for EWOS Canada. This 100' x 78' industrial building foundation is designed to support a 24’ prefab steel building.

Building a Foundation You Can Trust!

One thing that makes this project super cool is that we had to be super precise in our forming because the engineering requirements of this structure’s anchor bolt design layout have only 1 cm variance, meaning all 64 anchor bolts we are installing can only be off by 1 cm each!

In order to comply with this contractual specification, we fabricated custom anchor plates for each of its 12 pilasters. We didn’t stop there. We even enlisted a third-party surveyor to survey and confirm the exact center of all plates to be 100% sure of anchor bolt locations.

Each pilaster has a rebar cage with 20 mm and 25 mm rebar. A standard house foundation usually requires only 15 mm. The bolts that hold down the structure have to be precise within millimeters. The engineered slab has a 12"x12" rebar grid in a 6" thick 30 megapascal (MPA) concrete. A typical driveway has a 4" slab and may have an 18"x18" grid of 10 mm bar or none at all!

When completed, we will have poured approximately 70 cubic meters of concrete for the foundation and additional 120 cubic meters of concrete for the slab, which is almost 10 times over of an average house foundation construction . Another comparison for perspective is that it is about 20 driveways worth of concrete going into this project!
